year 1974

This is about history as a reaffirmed feeling.

To visit an idea and fall in love with it and to run with it so that it explores new possibilities is at the heart of the formal relaunch of a great design object, a classic from the last century. This has happened with the Marcel coffee table, designed by the Japanese maestro and naturalized Italian, Kazuhide Takahama, who passed away in 2010.

Faithfully re-proposed in chromed metal rod and with clear or smoked glass, this revisitation develops some variations in the materials, bringing in lacquered wood and marble as top alternatives. It extend the format options in the same proportions.

Born in Japan in 1930. In 1957 he designed the Japanese stand at the XI Triennial in Milan where he got to know Dino Gavina, marking the start of a prolific working relationship and lasting friendship. He relocated to Italy and was commissioned by numerous Italian design houses, both for residential and public projects. Amongst these were the facade and the VIP lounge at Guglielmo Marconi Airport and the shelters at Bologna's bus stops. He died in Bologna aged 80.
